The installer contains both the 32bit and 64bit version, and installs only the one for your operating system. It should work with 32bit-Vista out of the box.

The Installer works very well But not the Shell Object Editor. Also I start the Shell Object Editor and it try to load the GUI but it dosen load it. So i musst kill this Application with my Taskmanager... x[

Ja tu ich. Also du startest das Programm aber die GUI erscheint gar nicht erst? Ist ja erstaunlich, keine Ahnung wie sowas kommen kann.

Jo das GUI erschien einfach nicht! Aber ich habe es jetzt doch endlich richtig zum laufen bekommen. Also ich startete das Programm dann habe ich in der Taskleiste Rechtsklick auf Shell Object Editor gemacht und dann Maximieren ausgewählt und siehe da jetzt geht alles. Jetzt ist die Frage Bug in der Software oder im Betriebssystem. Ich tippe auf letzteres da Vista halt voll der Bugsh*t ist^^

but I cannot make it display any shell icons anywhere...

Guess the MS folks has changed something again...
Aswell, the S.O.E does not show anything in its list when you open the program, the list is all empty, also in expert mode...

i guess that answers the question of the lifetime of the shell object editor. as it just changes some registry keys, it only works as long as microsoft doesn't change the general shell object behaviour. i have not tested it with windows 7, although i guess it would only work if you disable uac and work as an administrator again. at least that is what i currently do under vista and it works there.
